Talking About the Near Future
Voy a plus a verb lets you talk about plans immediately.
You do not need the formal future tense yet. The pattern plus an infinitive handles most everyday future talk.
The pattern
- I am going to pay.
- I am going to call.
- I am going to come back tomorrow.
- I am going to study more.
For formal you:
- Are you going to wait here?
- Are you going to pay with card?
For we:
- We are going to eat.
- We are going to look for a taxi.
Time words
- today
- tomorrow
- this afternoon
- tonight
- next week
- next month
Plans, intentions, and warnings
- I plan to stay six months.
- I need to leave early.
- I have to renew my card.
- I am not going to be able to go today.
