Talking About the Near Future

You do not need the formal future tense yet. The pattern voy a plus an infinitive handles most everyday future talk.

The pattern

Voy a pagar.

I am going to pay.

Voy a llamar.

I am going to call.

Voy a regresar mañana.

I am going to come back tomorrow.

Voy a estudiar más.

I am going to study more.

For formal you:

¿Va a esperar aquí?

Are you going to wait here?

¿Va a pagar con tarjeta?

Are you going to pay with card?

For we:

Vamos a comer.

We are going to eat.

Vamos a buscar un taxi.

We are going to look for a taxi.

Pienso quedarme seis meses.

I plan to stay six months.
